A large commercial agricultural business is seeking an experienced, reliable, and detail-oriented Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting and support financial reporting across its farming operations.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience

The applicant should possess the following:

• A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least five (5) years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and Malawian tax requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in agriculture or a business operating across multiple sites will be an added advantage.
• A professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Accountant will be responsible for:

• Maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing day-to-day accounting.
• Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Reconciling bank accounts, supplier accounts, and customer balances.
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assisting with budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and expenditure monitoring.
• Processing payroll and maintaining supporting records.
• Preparing statutory returns and ensuring compliance with applicable tax requirements.
• Supporting audits and maintaining effective financial controls.
• Working closely with management and farm teams to track costs across operations.
