The company is seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to help develop and maintain an effective finance and accounting function as the business continues to expand in Malawi.

The successful candidate will oversee financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, support external audits, manage the finance team, and contribute to the design of new financial products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and monitor company financial transactions.
• Represent the Finance unit with external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Recruit, mentor, train, and supervise finance team members.
• Work with Product Managers to ensure new products meet accounting and tax requirements.
• Promote Wave's values and support a high-performing finance team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants should possess:

• Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in auditing, accounting, or finance.
• Experience with financial reporting requirements in Malawi.
• Experience managing tax audits.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Google Sheets/Excel.
• Experience working in an audit firm will be an added advantage.
