Job Title: Biomedical Engineering Intern (2 Positions)

Location: Lilongwe

Duration: One year

We are seeking two motivated and detail-oriented Biomedical Engineering Interns to join our engineering team. This internship offers hands-on experience in managing, maintaining, and supporting critical hospital technology, oxygen delivery systems, and medical devices in a clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation & Commissioning: Assist in the unboxing, setup, testing, and commissioning of new medical equipment according to safety standards.
• Preventive Maintenance (PM): Perform routine inspection, cleaning, calibration, and functional testing on hospital equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose faults, perform basic repairs, and restore malfunctioning medical devices safely and promptly.
• Oxygen Systems Management: Assist in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting medical oxygen generation plants, manifolds, cylinders, and piping systems.
• Documentation & Asset Management: Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory records for biomedical assets.
• Technical Support: Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure correct usage and safety protocols for medical devices.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering (or relevant degree in Medical Electronics/Clinical Engineering).
• Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of medical equipment installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting principles.
• Specialized Awareness: Familiarity with oxygen delivery systems (piped medical gas systems, oxygen plants/cylinders) and general hospital equipment.
• Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and good verbal/written communication skills.
