Job Description
OVERVIEW
Wealthnet Finance PLC is registered by the Reserve Bank of Malawi as a Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institution. The institution seeks a visionary and innovative leader with strong financial and managerial expertise to serve as Chief Finance Officer (CFO). The ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of banking and microfinance operations, corporate governance, and financial performance management.
Job Summary
The CFO will oversee all financial operations, including financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and compliance. This position plays a key strategic role in advising the CEO and Board on financial health and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Planning
• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company goals.
• Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Provide financial leadership in strategic planning and operational decision-making.
2. Financial Management
• Oversee accounting, budgeting, auditing, treasury, and reporting functions.
• Monitor cash flow and financial transactions.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
3. Risk Management & Compliance
• Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Ensure compliance with national financial regulations, tax laws, and RBM guidelines.
• Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and regulators.
4. Capital & Funding Management
• Manage capital structure and funding strategies.
• Build relationships with banks, investors, and funding partners.
• Lead fundraising initiatives (equity, debt, or grants).
5. Team Leadership
• Mentor and manage the finance and accounts team.
• Implement performance management and professional development systems.
6. Technology & Systems
• Oversee implementation of financial and core banking systems.
• Promote digital transformation and data-driven financial management.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
• Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CFA, etc.) preferred
• Must be a member of ICAM
Experience:
• Minimum 8–10 years of financial management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong background in microfinance, fintech, or financial services.
• Experience working with regulators and auditors.
Skills:
• Advanced financial analysis and management skills.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in ERP and core banking systems.
• Deep understanding of financial inclusion and portfolio management.

• Timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Full regulatory and audit compliance.
• Effective capital and fundraising management.
• Efficient budgeting and cost control.
• Strong team performance and retention.
