About the Facility

Pothawira Health Center is located in Salima District, approximately two miles from Msangu Market along the Senga Bay Road. The facility comprises a general outpatient clinic, a dedicated birthing unit, and a newly established state-of-the-art surgical center. Together, these services provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across a full spectrum of medical and surgical needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric care including prenatal care, labor and delivery management, and postpartum care
• Deliver expert gynecological services including annual exams, contraceptive counseling, and preventive care
• Diagnose and manage complex gynecologic conditions: uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, and menopausal disorders
• Perform diagnostic procedures including ultrasounds, colposcopies, Pap tests, and on-site laboratory testing
• Evaluate and manage infertility cases with appropriate specialist referrals
• Maintain detailed, accurate medical records and ensure regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Obstetrics and Gynecology from a recognized institution
• At least 2+ years of work experience in a good setting within or outside Malawi
• In good standing with the Medical Council of Malawi
