Job Description

POSITION: CLINICAL OFFICER – CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLINIC

Location: Lilongwe

Employment: Full-time

Reporting to: Program Manager

About the Role

Fount for Nations is seeking a Clinical Officer to join our Child Development Clinic and provide high-quality, compassionate care to children and their families. The Clinical Officer will support the assessment and management of children, with a particular focus on child development, early identification of developmental concerns and family-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical, growth and developmental assessments of children.
  • Diagnose and manage common childhood illnesses within scope of practice.
  • Identify developmental concerns and coordinate appropriate referrals and follow-up.
  • Provide caregivers with practical guidance on child health, development and home-based support.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to quality improvement.
  • Participate in community and professional learning activities related to child development and early intervention.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution.
  • Good standing with medical council.
  • Willing and eligible to register for private practice licence with medical council of Malawi.
  • 2-3 years experience working with children and families.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in paediatrics, rehabilitation, developmental monitoring or early intervention is an advantage.
  • Experience in implementation and clinical research.
  • Stream History Documentaries
