OVERVIEW

UNESCO is inviting applications from qualified professionals for the position of Individual Consultant to support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of programmes and activities related to UNESCO’s expanded work on Education for Health and Well-Being in Malawi.

The consultant will support the implementation of the “Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future” (O3) Programme for Education for Health and Well-Being in Malawi and represent the project office in UN joint programmes and technical working groups at country level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support UNESCO’s efforts to deliver high-quality comprehensive sexuality education that is gender transformative, evidence-based, culturally appropriate, and inclusive.

• Support teacher education and curriculum development for learners, including learners with disabilities.

• Provide oversight to Civil Society Organisation (CSO) partners implementing activities addressing Early and Unintended Pregnancy, Gender-Based Violence, Child Marriage, and sexual reproductive health issues.

• Support the review of the Readmission Policy to strengthen learner re-entry into school.

• Support the development and implementation of digital innovations for adolescents and young people on comprehensive sexuality education and adolescent sexual and reproductive health.

• Assist with programme implementation, monitoring, and reporting activities.


Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Education, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant professional experience in education, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, comprehensive sexuality education, HIV and AIDS programming, or related areas.

• Experience working with Government, international/national NGOs, and UN Agencies.

• Experience working with Civil Society Organisations.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Strong knowledge of Malawi’s education and public health context.

• Extensive professional knowledge and experience in HIV and AIDS and sexuality education.

• Strong technical writing skills on sexuality education and HIV/AIDS-related issues.

• Excellent strategic and analytical skills.

• Good computer skills, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong communication, accountability, teamwork, planning, and organisational skills.

LANGUAGES

• Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written).

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in training, coordination, and institutional capacity building.

• Experience in monitoring and evaluation.

• Experience in resource mobilisation, budget management, and implementation reporting.
