Job Description
Blantyre Baptist Church, a member of the Baptist Convention in Malawi, which operates well-established primary schools and Blantyre Baptist Academy in Blantyre, invites applications from suitably qualified, dynamic, and experienced individuals to fill the position of Human Resources and Administration Manager based at its offices in Chichiri, Blantyre.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To manage the Church’s Human Resources and administrative functions, and to develop, align, and implement Human Resources strategies that support the mission and operational objectives of the Church and its institutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- HR Planning: Align Human Resources strategies with the Church’s overall strategic direction and ensure staff are focused on achieving organizational objectives.
- Recruitment and Selection: Support line management in ensuring efficient and effective recruitment and selection processes.
- Performance Management: Guide and coach line managers on performance management principles and coordinate the performance appraisal process to promote efficiency and accountability.
- Change Management: Support and facilitate organizational change initiatives and ensure post-change evaluations are conducted.
- Employee Benefits Administration: Ensure efficient and effective management of employee benefits.
- Remuneration Management: Maintain up-to-date remuneration data through salary surveys and related sources; ensure efficient payroll processing for the Church and its institutions; monitor key HR cost drivers and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Training and Development: Develop annual training plans and budgets, and ensure their effective implementation.
- HR Management Information Systems (HRMIS): Manage the HR information system, including capturing, tracking, updating, and reporting employee data, and producing periodic HR reports for management and governance purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrated experience as an HR Generalist, with the ability to provide effective leadership while balancing strategic thinking with hands-on implementation.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ hands-on experience in Human Resources Management at senior management level.
- Proven working knowledge of the Labour Laws of Malawi and their practical application within an organizational setting.

- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
