Job Description
The Malawi Legal Aid Bureau, established under the Legal Aid Act of 2011, is a national public institution mandated to provide legal aid services to persons with insufficient means. The Bureau is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Internal Auditor.

Reporting to: Senior Internal Auditor
Duty Station: Zomba
The Role
The successful candidate will support the Bureau's internal audit function by strengthening internal controls, conducting risk-based audits, and ensuring compliance with financial and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Management in implementing and reviewing policies and procedures for safeguarding assets and improving decision-making
- Develop the Bureau's risk profile and prepare annual audit plans
- Conduct risk-based audits, including cash audits, and prepare audit reports in line with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
- Verify the accuracy and integrity of accounting records, policies, and documentation
- Review accounting systems and internal controls to ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation
- Assist in strengthening the Bureau's internal control systems
- Review existing and proposed operational systems before implementation
- Prepare consolidated audit reports and recommend corrective actions
- Follow up on Management's implementation of audit recommendations
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Internal Auditor or Management
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Financial Accounting, Internal Auditing, or a related field
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in internal auditing
