Job Description
POSITION: M&E INTERN
Location: Lilongwe
Employment: Part-time
Reporting to: MEL Lead
About the Role
Fount for Nations is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic M&E Intern to join the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Department. The M&E Intern will support the department in monitoring programme activities, collecting and managing data, conducting basic data analysis, supporting data quality assurance, and contributing to programme reporting and learning activities. The successful candidate will work under the guidance and supervision of the M&E Officer and will have an opportunity to gain practical experience in both traditional and digital M&E processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the collection of quantitative and qualitative programme data.
- Participate in field monitoring visits and programme verification activities.
- Assist with data collection using tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK and other related digital platforms.
- Support data entry, cleaning, validation and organisation of programme datasets.
- Conduct routine data quality checks and identify missing, incomplete or inconsistent data.
- Assist in maintaining M&E databases, trackers and programme records.
- Support basic analysis of programme data using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or other relevant tools.
- Assist in preparing tables, charts, graphs and data summaries for programme reporting.
- Support the preparation of routine M&E reports and presentations.
- Assist in updating indicator tracking tools and other M&E documentation.
- Participate in programme learning and reflection activities.
- Support the documentation of lessons learned, success stories and programme achievements.
- Maintain proper filing and organisation of M&E documentation.
- Uphold confidentiality and responsible management of programme and beneficiary information.
- Perform any other administration related duties.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or a related programme from a recognised institution.
- Must be undertaking an approved internship/attachment as part of their academic programme.
- Basic understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation concepts and processes.
- Basic knowledge of data collection, data management and analysis.
- Basic computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of digital data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox or ODK is an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous practical experience in M&E is an advantage but not essential.
