Job Description
OVERVIEW
Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust (AYCT) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Mental Health & Social Skills Coach under the Pathway Centre Programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering personal development, wellbeing, employability, and life skills programmes to young women. The role focuses on building participants’ confidence, emotional wellbeing, communication skills, decision-making abilities, resilience, and readiness for employment, entrepreneurship, further education, and other life pathways.
The Coach will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment while promoting safeguarding, positive mental health, and participant wellbeing through learner-centred coaching approaches.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate personal development, life skills, communication, workplace readiness, and career development sessions.
- Support participants to develop self-awareness, confidence, resilience, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Deliver practical learning activities using role plays, simulations, case studies, group discussions, reflective exercises, and peer learning.
- Adapt coaching approaches to meet the needs of participants with diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.
- Promote positive mental health, safeguarding, and gender-responsive programming.
- Support young women to successfully transition into education, employment, entrepreneurship, or other opportunities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should possess:
- Diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Education, Community Development, Adult Education, or another relevant social science field.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in youth development, life skills facilitation, psychosocial support, coaching, counselling, education, or community-based programmes.
- Experience working with adolescents, young women, or vulnerable groups.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, mental health and psychosocial support, gender equality, youth development, and gender-responsive programming.
- Experience using participatory and learner-centred facilitation approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chichewa.
