Job Description

Sunrise Pharmaceuticals Limited has commenced new operations under new management in Lilongwe and is seeking a qualified and experienced Pharmaceuticals Manager to oversee the overall operations, performance, compliance, stock control, sales growth, procurement, distribution, and strategic development of the business.


In the modern pharmaceutical business environment, this role requires a professional who understands pharmacy regulations, medicine supply chains, digital inventory systems, customer service, supplier management, ethical pharmaceutical practice, and commercial growth. The Pharmaceuticals Manager must ensure that the business operates legally, efficiently, profitably, and in line with all applicable regulatory and professional standards.


Reports To: Managing Director


Key Responsibilities


Manage the daily operations of Sunrise Pharmaceuticals and ensure smooth, compliant, and profitable business activities


Oversee procurement, receiving, storage, distribution, and sale of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies


Ensure that all medicines and health products are handled, stored, and sold in accordance with applicable pharmacy regulations and company policies


Maintain proper stock control, inventory records, expiry tracking, batch tracking, and product movement documentation


Ensure proper storage conditions, including temperature control, cold chain management, cleanliness, and product safety


Monitor sales performance, customer service, profitability, market trends, and business growth opportunities


Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, healthcare institutions, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, distributors, and regulatory stakeholders


Ensure compliance with PMRA requirements, company procedures, licensing conditions, and pharmaceutical best practices


Work closely with the Pharmacist to ensure proper dispensing, medicine safety, professional advice, and regulatory compliance


Prevent stock losses, expired products, unauthorized sales, poor record keeping, and operational misconduct


Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, stock levels, purchases, expiries, slow-moving items, and business performance


Use digital stock systems, accounting software, Excel, and reporting tools to improve accuracy, control, and decision-making


Identify new product lines, market opportunities, supplier partnerships, and business expansion strategies


Supervise pharmacy staff and ensure professionalism, discipline, productivity, and high-quality customer service


Coordinate with accounts, procurement, audit, HR, and head office to ensure proper financial control and operational efficiency


Ensure that company assets, records, cash, stock, equipment, and premises are properly protected and managed


Promote ethical business conduct, patient safety, accountability, and a strong performance culture

Requirements

Required Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field


A qualified and registered Pharmacist will be strongly preferred, especially where the role involves direct responsibility for medicines, regulatory compliance, and pharmacy operations


Professional registration, licensing, or eligibility to practice in Malawi must meet applicable PMRA requirements where required


Additional qualifications in business management, pharmaceutical supply chain, sales, procurement, or operations management will be an added advantage


Required Experience


Minimum of 5 years' experience in pharmaceutical operations, pharmacy management, healthcare business, pharmaceutical distribution, procurement, or medical supplies management


At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory or managerial role is preferred


Experience working with pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, wholesalers, distributors, regulatory authorities, or healthcare suppliers will be an added advantage


Experience with stock control, expiry management, procurement, sales reporting, and digital inventory systems is essential

Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical operations and medicine supply chain management


Good understanding of pharmacy regulations, compliance, ethical practice, and product safety


Strong leadership, supervision, and staff management skills


Excellent stock control, expiry tracking, and inventory management ability


Strong commercial awareness and ability to grow sales and profitability


Good supplier negotiation and relationship management skills


Excellent reporting, documentation, and record-keeping skills


Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, inventory systems, and digital reporting tools


Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability


High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism


Ability to work under pressure and meet business targets


Strong customer service mindset and ability to protect the reputation of Sunrise Pharmaceuticals

The Pharmaceuticals Manager will be expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce stock losses, prevent expired stock, strengthen compliance, grow sales, improve customer satisfaction, and position Sunrise Pharmaceuticals as a trusted, professional, and modern pharmaceutical business in Malawi.
