Village Model, an innovative mass marketing system designed to link large numbers
of smallholder farmers to profitable markets. The organization combines private

Main Purpose of the Role
The Programmes Manager - Markets & Trade will provide strategic oversight and
coordination of programme activities related to market development, trade
partnerships, and commercialization initiatives. The role requires strong expertise in
market systems, private sector engagement, partnership development, and programme
management, while supporting innovation and technical guidance across FCI
programmes.
Key Responsibilities
I. Lead design and implementation of programme activities, including work
planning and team coordination.
II. Conduct and supervise market research, value chain analysis, market
monitoring, and impact assessments.
III. Identify and develop buyer linkages and trade partnerships in formal and
informal markets.
IV. Design and implement marketing strategies for agricultural commodities and
products.
V. Provide technical and managerial support to programme teams and partners.
VI. Build strategic partnerships with private sector actors, governments, donors,
and development partners.
VII. Support resource mobilization, including proposal development and donor
engagement.
VIII. Prepare technical and donor reports and document lessons learned.
IX. Lead consortium development and collaborative partnerships.
X. Promote and market FCI programmes and initiatives.
XI. Develop proposals to scale successful interventions.

Professional Requirements
Advanced degree (MSc preferred) in Marketing, Agricultural Economics, Strategic Marketing, Business, or related field.
5-10 years' experience in programme or project management in Malawi.
Strong experience in market development, value chains, and private sector partnerships.
Proven skills in strategic planning, business planning, market analysis, and documentation.
Excellent proposal writing, reporting, analytical, and presentation skills.
Ability to engage and network with high-level business stakeholders.
