About Kamuzu Academy
Kamuzu Academy is a selective, co-educational boarding school for students aged 11 to 18 years, following the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) curriculum. We are a well-resourced international school with a long-standing reputation for academic excellence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop appropriate challenging work for all students.
- Raise standards of attainment across year groups, tracking progress effectively.
- Contribute to a broad and balanced curriculum and work with other departments to ensure the curriculum is exciting and engaging.
- Create and complete appropriate schemes of work for different year groups at the school.
- Ensure coverage of Schemes of Learning and relevant curriculum to enable students to meet their minimum expected progress.
- Create and deploy resources that support children’s learning in the subject.
- Set and mark prep each week, providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Track progress and attainment, recommend interventions, and record impact.
- Undertake necessary professional development to keep improving skills in the classroom and across the school.
- Support and encourage outstanding attitudes to learning in students.
- Recognize and celebrate student achievement.
- Provide appropriate learning support for those with Individual Learning Plans.
- Keep up to date with advances and developments in the subject area.
- Contribute broadly to the co-curricular programme at Kamuzu Academy.
- Run a minimum of two co-curricular activities.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
- A relevant degree.
- Recognised teaching qualification.
- Ability to maintain good discipline within a caring atmosphere.
- Proven record of academic success and innovative teaching methods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to continuing professional development through attendance at all staff PD days and making the most of all training opportunities.
- Commitment to the all-round ethos of the school and support for the school beyond the curriculum, such as school events.

All appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check and other pre-employment screening. This includes receipt of at least two references satisfactory to the school, medical fitness, qualifications check, identity check, police clearance, and a self-declaration of childcare disqualification.
