Job Description
Zomba Diocese Health Commission operates under the Social Directorate of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. Its mission is to advance the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by promoting human life and providing preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services in a holistic manner. This is achieved through participation in collaborative networks and partnerships, aligned with the needs and capacities of the communities, and in accordance with Catholic core values and principles, to ensure the delivery of the high- quality services, the Commission is seeking to recruit motivated and experienced individuals for the following vacant positions at one of its health facilities St. Robert Health Centre (Sitima).
- Job Title : Assistant Accountant
- Grade : K
- Department : Finance and Administration
- Reporting Officer : Hospital Director
- Supervision Exercised : Cashiers, Accounts Assistant
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly payroll and issuing of salary cheques to various banks
- Preparing bank and ledger reconciliation statements
- Preparing quarterly returns for the expenditure and revenue accounts
- Recording receipts and payments vouchers in cash book
- Verifying payments vouchers, cheques, receipts and deposits for revenue accounts
- Supervising junior staff under him including the cashiers and assistant accountant
- Conducting on job training for cashiers and Accounts Assistant
- Monitoring attendance of the junior staff and recording and reporting absents
- Monitor performance of subordinates and consequently, taking part in conducting performance evaluation
Requirements
- Qualifications
- A minimum of Diploma in Accounting obtained from recognized training institution or certificate in financial accounting from with four years working experience on grade K as assistant accountant
- Knowledge, Ability and Skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to lead to lead a team
- Effective communication skills
- Time management skill
- Problem identification and solving skills
- Knowledge of computer packages which among others include word, excel, internet, PowerPoint
