A large commercial agricultural business is seeking an experienced and reliable Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair tractors, vehicles, and agricultural machinery across its farming operations.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience

The applicant should possess the following:

• A recognised qualification or trade certificate in Diesel Mechanics or a related field.
• Proven practical experience repairing diesel engines and agricultural machinery.
• Experience with tractor hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Welding and fabrication skills will be an added advantage.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

• Ability to work independently and prioritise urgent repairs.
• Reliability, safety awareness, and attention to detail.
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel within Southern Malawi.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for:

• Diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical faults.
• Servicing tractors, trucks, generators, and other farm machinery.
• Carrying out preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and equipment downtime.
• Responding to breakdowns and undertaking repairs on farms.
• Maintaining accurate servicing records and identifying spare parts requirements.
• Advising operators on proper equipment use and daily maintenance.
• Maintaining a safe and organised workshop and taking care of tools and equipment.
• Travelling between farms within Southern Malawi as required.
