Job Overview
The Finance Support Officer will support field-level financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, managing petty cash and bank transactions, and ensuring compliance with organizational financial procedures and policies.
The role will contribute to the efficient management of project finances and support timely financial reporting and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations and Administration
- Prepare monthly cash projections in collaboration with project staff
- Process payments in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
- Verify payment requests and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Record cash and bank transactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage petty cash and ensure compliance with approved cash holding limits
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and cash recaps
- Follow up and resolve outstanding reconciliation items
- Maintain proper filing and archiving systems for financial records and supporting documents
- Prepare financial and operational reports as required
- Support emergency response activities when required
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field
- At least one (1) year of relevant work experience
- Previous experience working with an NGO will be an added advantage
- Sound knowledge of accounting practices and financial procedures
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
