1. Background
The Malawi Federation of Cooperatives (MAFECO) is the national umbrella body for cooperatives in Malawi. Established in 2015 under the Cooperative Societies Act, MAFECO represents and advocates for the cooperative movement across the country. The Federation currently has nine affiliated cooperative unions and is actively implementing four projects aimed at strengthening cooperative development and sustainability.
With the expansion of its activities and the growing demand for digital support, MAFECO seeks to engage an ICT Intern to assist with a range of ICT-related functions, including website management, staff support on IT issues, and enhancement of the organization’s digital systems.
2. Position Overview
The ICT Intern will provide technical support to the organization and its cooperative members by maintaining digital platforms, assisting staff with IT-related issues, and contributing to the improvement of ICT systems. This role is designed to build the intern’s professional skills while strengthening the organization’s digital capacity.
3. Key Responsibilities
-Website Management: Regularly update and maintain the organizational website with news, events, resources, and cooperative activities.
-IT Support: Provide first-line technical support to staff, including -troubleshooting hardware, software, and Other ICT related issues.
-System Maintenance: Assist in maintaining organizational ICT infrastructure such as computers, printers, and internet connectivity.
-Digital Communication: Support staff in using digital tools (email, online collaboration platforms, video conferencing).
-Data Management: Assist in organizing and securing digital records, cooperative databases, and shared files.
Training Support: Help conduct basic ICT training sessions for staff and cooperative members to improve digital literacy.
-Innovation: Suggest improvements and innovative ICT solutions that enhance organizational efficiency and cooperative engagement.
4. Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in ICT, Computer Science, or related field.
Basic knowledge of web development and content management systems.
Familiarity with troubleshooting common IT issues.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
5. Duration
The ICT Intern will be engaged for 6 months.
