Job Description
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act, 2016 to regulate the provision of services in the communications sector in Malawi, comprising telecommunications postal and broadcasting.
MACRA is inviting suitable people to apply for the following vacant positions tenable at its Blantyre Head Office.

MALWARE ANALYSIS OFFICER MA6
Job Purpose
Identify cyber threats such as worms, trojans, bots, rootkits and viruses. Protect digital assets from threats and work closely with other security experts in teams.
Responsibilities
- Use cyber defines tools for continual monitoring and analysis of system activity to identify malicious activity.
- Characterize and analyse network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to network resources.
- Conduct research, analysis and correlation across a wide variety of all source data sets (indications and warnings).
- Receive and analyse network alerts from various sources and determine possible causes of such alerts.
- Analyse identified malicious activity to determine weaknesses exploited, exploitation methods, effects on system and information.
- To provide advice and input for Disaster Recovery.
- Contingency, and Continuity of Operations Plans.
- To perform automated scanning and conduct and/ or support authorized penetration testing to identify threats.
- To prepare audit reports that identify technical and procedural findings and provide recommended remediation strategies/solutions.
- To keep up to date on the latest malware threats and keep software updated to defend against them.
- Document malware threats and identify procedures to avoid them
- Analyze programs and software using analysis programs to identify threats
- Classify malware based on threats and commonalities
- Keep up to date on the latest malware threats and keep software updated to defend against them
- Write alerts to let security personnel know about the latest threats
- Help create documentation for cyber security policies
- Train personnel and other team members on best security practices
- Understand tools that identify zero-day cyber threats and work to protect from them
- Participate in research and development of malware protection tools.
- Performs digital forensics.
- Ensures that Digital evidence is stored in a safe and secure manner.
- Preform vulnerability management
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
- A minimum qualification of a degree in cybersecurity. forensics Computer science, ICT or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in cybersecurity.
- Professional certification in Cybersecurity, particularly in forensics, Ethical hacking, CENT and malware analysis shall have an added advantage
