OVERVIEW

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power as well as manage System Market Operations in Malawi. ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing within the Corporation.

POSITION 1: LV DISTRIBUTION NETWORK ANALYST – 7 POSITIONS

Grade: ES12

Location: Regional Offices

Supervised by: Regional Coordinators

Duration: 6 months

JOB TYPE: Temporary

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To analyze, monitor, and optimize the Low Voltage (LV) electricity distribution network to enhance system reliability, efficiency, safety, and customer service delivery.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum of a Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
• Advanced Computer Skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze LV network performance and identify areas requiring improvement.
• Monitor network loading, power quality, and voltage profiles.
• Conduct technical studies and prepare reports on network reliability and operational efficiency.
• Assess network constraints and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain and update network databases, GIS, and related analytical systems.
• Develop forecasts for electricity demand and network capacity requirements.
• Collaborate with field teams in investigating network faults and service interruptions.

POSITION 2: ENUMERATORS – 145 POSITIONS

Grade: ES13

Location: Regional Offices (South, Central & North)

Supervised by: Regional Coordinators

Duration: 5 months

JOB TYPE: Temporary

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To collect, verify, and update accurate electricity distribution network data in the field to support network planning, asset management, system maintenance, and operational efficiency.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum of a Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect accurate data on LV network infrastructure (poles, transformers, cables, meters, etc.).
• Record details on asset condition, age, and maintenance needs.
• Verify GPS coordinates of assets and ensure proper georeferencing.
• Survey LV network routes and map key assets (transformers, meters, junctions).
• Maintain daily logs of activities, locations, and data collected.
• Provide feedback on challenges or obstacles faced during data collection.
