Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) is a comprehensive health and allied sciences higher learning institution established with the primary function of training health workers. With support from the Beginnings Fund through the Ministry of Health and the Health Sector Joint Fund, KUHeS will train various cadres to increase the health workforce and improve maternal and neonatal outcomes. KUHeS is inviting suitably and qualified candidates to fill the position of Programme Coordinator available under the Beginnings Fund project.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Programme Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating and supporting the implementation, administration, monitoring, and reporting of programme activities to ensure effective delivery of programme objectives. The role involves providing operational, logistical, financial, and administrative support to the Programme Lead, facilitating stakeholder engagement, ensuring compliance with institutional and donor requirements, and promoting efficient coordination of programme activities across all technical areas.

The post holder will be responsible to the Programme Lead and will be appointed on a two-year contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the day-to-day management of the program.
  • Support programme leads in coordination, organisation, program, and financial reporting of program activities across all technical areas.
  • Facilitate timely implementation of project activities by leading the coordination of program operations and logistical support.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly programmatic implementation plans as per the program work plan.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly technical reports.
  • Facilitate preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Assist in reviewing processes and timely reconciling payment documentation from program and technical activities.
  • Promote effective communication within the team making sure each member is well-informed and aligns with Program goals, objectives, and desired results.
  • In consultation with the program leads, conduct regular updates of partners' and stakeholders lists and make them available to staff.
  • Liaise with Program Leads to facilitate procurement of necessary office supplies and equipment.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Management or related field.
  • Three years proven experience as programme coordinator or relevant position.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be well-organized.
  • Excellent networking skills.
