OVERVIEW

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a non-profit, independent international humanitarian organization committed to delivering medical aid to populations facing crises, with a steadfast commitment to impartiality and without regard to race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. In Malawi, MSF collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health and the local community, particularly in the Cervical Cancer project in the Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts, as well as the CBO Project in Zalewa and Dedza District.

SUPERVISOR MEDICAL DATA ENTRY – 1 POSITION


Workplace : Blantyre


Type of contract : 1-year Fixed term with possibility of extension


Start date : May 2026


Main Purpose


Ensure completion of all activities related to medical data entry and data management into the mission database. Supervise, organise and plan the activity of Data Entry officers/operators, as well as identify their training needs in order to provide a good service support and reliability of the data collected.


Main Responsibilities


Supervise, organise and plan the activity of Data Entry officers to have a reliable record of medical activity performed, as well as identify their training/technical support needs in order to provide a good service support and reliability of the data collected.

Ensure collation and entry of all data identified by project managers for collection (e.g. morbidity, mortality, surveillance of diseases of epidemics, nutrition, psychological and women’s health, etc) into the appropriate data management system while ensuring quality of data

Do quality control data officers’ performance on regular basis

Know and ensure proper use of software used for recording (i.e. Bahmni, DHIS2, ITAE, IRIS, Nextcloud, etc.).

Ensure accuracy of the medical data entered into the mission’s database on a regular basis, according to MSF protocols and carry out regular back-ups.

Provide technical support to data entry officers/operators in project sites and give response to their training needs.

Provide regular statistical reports for the medical team as well as informing the superior of any missing information, major changes or big differences in data.

Specific Accountabilities


Track all data requests from different project departments, gather additional reporting requirements, and ensure the quality and integrity of data collected across various Health Information Systems (HIS) tools.

Collaborate with different departments within the CC Project to provide data quality feedback, ensuring accurate data is used for patient management and analysis.

Support the implementation of health information tools by testing new updates added to applications and participating in documenting feedback.

Support the enhancement, synchronization, and management of various HIS tools used in the project (Praxis, Access databases, Excel sheets, EMR, DHIS2, etc.) to generate reliable and actionable reports, Awhile ensuring secure, efficient, and effective use of these tools.

Support the implementation and proper use of data security provisions and protocols to ensure secure access to and maintenance of patient medical and administrative information, in accordance with MSF data security and patient confidentiality standards.

Lead in the implementation of CC project qualitative and quantitative monitoring across activities, under supervision of the manager, and in collaboration with the medical team.

Requirements


Education

Degree in Statistics, Epidemiology or Information and Technology (IT) is required

Essential skills are proven computer literacy and qualifications either in data management or in statistics

Experience

Essential with working experience of at least one year in data management

Experience with analyses and management of medical data is desirable

Language


Fluency in English and Chichewa
