Equity Reinsurance Brokers Limited is seeking an Accountant to manage and maintain accurate financial records, oversee accounting processes related to reinsurance brokerage operations, support financial reporting, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal financial standards.

The role also includes coordinating reconciliations, monitoring receivables and payables, and contributing to financial planning and operational efficiency within the organization.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Progress toward a professional qualification such as ACCA, is an added advantage.
• 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in insurance, reinsurance, financial services.
• Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Office tools.

• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work with confidential financial information.
• Basic understanding of insurance/reinsurance accounting principles.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage Financial Records: Maintain accurate accounting records, oversee daily financial transactions, and ensure proper ledger reconciliations and transaction classification.
• Oversee Premiums, Commissions, and Claims: Record and reconcile premiums, brokerage commissions, and claims recoveries while monitoring settlements and outstanding balances.
• Perform Reconciliations and Financial Controls: Prepare bank and stakeholder reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and strengthen internal financial controls.
• Prepare Financial Reports: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and regulatory returns.
• Ensure Compliance and Audit Readiness: Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax and regulatory requirements, and coordinate internal and external audit documentation.
• Support Operational Excellence: Improve accounting processes, maintain organized financial records, and provide accounting guidance across the organization.
