Job Description
The Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Malawi (AOGM) is a professional organization dedicated to improving maternal, newborn, sexual and reproductive health through clinical excellence, training, research, advocacy, and professional development. AOGM is implementing several programmes, including the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (ECSACOG) Fellowship Programme in Malawi, and is seeking to recruit a Project and Operations Officer to support programme implementation and financial management.
Contract Duration: Initial contract until 31 March 2027, renewable subject to performance and funding availability
Reports to: AOGM President and Executive Committee
Key Responsibilities
The Project and Operations Officer will:
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of AOGM projects and activities
- Support implementation of the ECSACOG Fellowship Programme and other AOGM initiatives
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, work plans, and activity schedules
- Process payments, reconciliations, and procurement activities in accordance with AOGM and donor requirements
- Prepare financial and narrative reports for donors, partners, and the AOGM Executive Committee
- Monitor grant compliance and support audits and financial reviews
- Organize meetings, trainings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities
- Support membership administration, fundraising initiatives, and coordination of the AOGM Annual Scientific Meeting and other AOGM meetings
- Perform other programme and administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Committee
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Health Administration or another related field
- At least 3 years' experience managing donor-funded projects, preferably within the health, research or non-governmental sector
- Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including government institutions, professional associations, donors and implementing partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
