VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Ramp Operator (LH 9)

Organization: Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO)

Location: Bakili Muluzi International Airport and Kamuzu International Airport, Malawi

Reporting to: Head Ramp Operator

Introduction and Background

Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government owned commercial entity established in 2000. The core business of the company is to provide passenger, ramp, and cargo handling services to national and international airlines, as well as travel, tour, and lounge services to passengers traveling in and out of Malawi Airports.

The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position at Bakili Muluzi International Airport and Kamuzu International Airport.


Position Purpose

To ensure smooth operations at the ramp.

Main Duties

  • Attend briefing meetings before aircraft arrival and debriefing after departure
  • Check and inspect Ground Support Equipment (GSE) before use
  • Clean GSE before use
  • Position loading and other equipment at aircraft
  • Deploy guidelines and safety rails on loading and other applicable equipment
  • Remove loading and other equipment from aircraft
  • Operate in-plane loading system while at aircraft
  • Load and offload aircraft
  • Tow non-motorized GSE to a position near and away from aircraft
  • Collect and deliver cargo and mail from Air Cargo
  • Collect and deliver baggage from Baggage Sorting Area to aircraft and vice versa
  • Collect foreign object debris (FOD)
  • Ensure safety and security in all ramp driving operations
  • Report on hazards and safety risks during day-to-day ramp operations

Requirements

Education Qualification

  • Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with a Clean Driving License Class C1
  • Those with a valid Defensive Driving Certificate will have an added advantage


Work Experience

  • At least two (2) years' driving experience
