Job Description

CCAP Nkhoma Synod Health Department invites applications from suitably qualified and well experienced applicants for the following positions tenable at Nkhoma Mission Hospital in Lilongwe District.

Note: All applicants should be conversant with the teachings and traditions of CCAP Nkhoma Synod.



POSITION 1: DATA OFFICER (GRADE I)

Contract Type: One-Year (12 Months) Employment Contract

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designing a REDCap database to monitor the use of endoscopy services at Nkhoma Mission Hospital
  • Inputting, managing, curating, and reporting endoscopy data within REDCap to monitor and demonstrate the impact of the Boston Scientific endoscopy grant on clinical outcomes, training, service delivery, and research
  • Preparing and supporting internal and external monitoring visits and audits and implementing corrective actions based on the findings
  • Generating regular dashboards, analytic exports, and ad hoc reports for PAACS leadership, clinical investigators, and Boston Scientific
  • Preparing datasets for analysis and publication
  • Liaising with PAACS program staff, Boston Scientific contacts, statisticians, and site teams on project activities
  • Attending project meetings and providing progress updates
  • Ensuring adherence to Hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements in all endoscopy processes
  • Ensuring regular review and updating of protocols to align with quality and safety best practices
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health or its equivalent from a recognized training Institution
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated work experience in data management, statistical research or Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
  • Solid understanding of clinical environments, medical terminology, and patient interaction
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse, international, and multi-cultural team
  • Mastery of standard office software for data entry, report generation, and presentation building (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Comfortable navigating digital filing systems. Prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or research databases is a significant advantage
  • Detail oriented
  • High degree of flexibility to pivot between different projects and handle the unpredictable nature of surgical research
  • Emotional and professional maturity to work effectively within a resource-limited setting



POSITION 2: SOCIAL WORKER (GRADE I)

Contract Type: Two-Year (24 Months) Employment Contract subject to renewal based on overall efficiency, conduct and diligence as well as performance and availability of funds

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing counselling to clients at the Hospital like patients or guardians who have social problems or psychosocial problems
  • Cheering and counselling clients or patients with chronic illness and HIV and AIDS
  • Registering orphans whose parents mainly mothers have died soon after giving birth
  • Ensuring that newly born babies are linked to be registered for birth registration under National Birth Registration Bureau
  • Making various social inquiries for the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and link them to services to promote their rights
  • Ensuring that the Hospital is child friendly and disability friendly
  • Facilitating the child friendly services at the Hospital like child care centre at the pediatric centre
  • Compiling social reports in respect of the survivors of violence
  • Linking patients with relations
  • Lobbying with relations or medical experts for special support to some patients
  • Conducting psychosocial support to patients
  • Doing assessment of patients who are mentally ill awaiting to be referred to another facility for further management
  • Conducting routine home visits for Palliative care patients
  • Compiling and submitting quarterly reports for Palliative care patients
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Degree in Social Work from a recognized training Institution
  • Minimum of two years' work experience in the field
  • Good team player with strong organizational skills
  • Good communicator – both oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Pleasant and approachable
  • Task Oriented
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with computer use and applications
