OVERVIEW

Swift Capital Holdings (SCH) is a diversified Malawian financial services group comprising Swift Capital Growth Partners (microfinance), Swift Digital Finance (digital lending), and Swift Capital Insurance Brokers (insurance brokerage).

The organisation is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development and Marketing Manager to drive market growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, generating market intelligence, and supporting product development across the Group’s businesses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding market presence, increasing business opportunities, and developing strategies that support sustainable growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development and Pipeline Management

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with corporate clients, SMEs, NGOs, churches, parastatals, private sector organisations, and institutional prospects.

• Build and maintain a strong business development pipeline through networking, cold calling, and stakeholder engagement.

• Promote SCH’s financial solutions including microfinance, digital lending, and insurance products.

• Prepare and submit tenders, proposals, and expressions of interest for institutional and government opportunities.

• Manage business development budgets and track commercial performance.

• Monitor and report on client visits, leads generated, proposals submitted, deals closed, and conversion rates.

Strategy, Planning and Market Intelligence

• Develop annual business development plans aligned with organisational strategy.

• Monitor market trends, customer behaviour, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.

• Provide strategic recommendations to management based on market analysis.

• Identify underserved markets and recommend new products, partnerships, and distribution channels.

Partnerships, Product Development and Growth

• Drive cross-selling of SCH products across microfinance, digital finance, and insurance businesses.

• Build strategic partnerships, referral networks, and distribution channels.

• Work with product teams to support product design and improvement.

• Gather customer feedback and provide recommendations for product enhancement.

Leadership, Reporting and Governance

• Supervise and provide direction to the Marketing Officer.

• Monitor performance and support staff development.

• Prepare business development reports, pipeline updates, and market intelligence reports for management and the Board.

• Represent SCH at industry events, stakeholder meetings, and business forums.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate governance standards.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Commerce
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Business Administration
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • or related field.

• Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.

• Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualification or equivalent professional qualification is desirable.

Experience

Applicants should have:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or related commercial roles.

• At least 3 years’ experience at supervisory or management level.

• Experience in microfinance, insurance, or financial services is preferred.

• Proven experience generating and closing B2B or institutional business deals.

• Experience developing partnerships, distribution channels, or agency networks is an added advantage.

• Strong analytical and market research skills.

• Ability to prepare professional proposals and reports.

• Good knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Strong leadership and people management skills.

• High level of integrity and professionalism.
