Project Overview

The Growth Poles Project 2.0 (GPP 2.0) is a five-year initiative led by Palladium International and funded by Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs. The project aims to accelerate inclusive, sustainable, and resilient wealth creation in Malawi by mobilizing private sector investments in agriculture and natural resource management.

Job Summary

Palladium is seeking a Portfolio Performance & Partnerships Manager to oversee partner performance, technical implementation progress, milestone readiness, and portfolio intelligence across the Growth Poles Project 2.0 partner portfolio.

The successful candidate will coordinate between partner implementation teams, technical specialists, Monitoring Evaluation and Learning teams, and project leadership to ensure risks are identified, corrective actions are followed up, and performance decisions are based on reliable information.

Key Responsibilities

• Track partner performance against agreed scopes of work, milestones, and workplans.

• Maintain partner performance dashboards and scorecards.

• Coordinate between partner teams, technical specialists, Contracts and Sub Awards teams, and Monitoring Evaluation and Learning teams.

• Track corrective actions and ensure they are completed.

• Identify emerging portfolio risks and maintain a portfolio risk register.

• Escalate critical risks and support leadership decision-making.

• Conduct field visits to verify reported milestones and prepare site visit reports.

• Support milestone verification and data quality assessments.

• Prepare weekly portfolio performance dashboards covering milestones, budgets, co-investments, risks, and key decisions.

• Contribute to quarterly and annual donor reports.

• Coordinate with partner organizations and support partner review meetings.

• Support reporting on partnership activities and results.

• Undertake significant field travel (at least 40%).


Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Economics, Agricultural Development, or a related field.

• Advanced degree is preferred.

• 5–8 years of progressive experience in programme or portfolio management within international development, private sector engagement, or market systems programming.

• Experience managing partnerships with private sector organizations.

• Experience in agriculture or market systems programming in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Malawi.

• Experience with co-investment models, grant management, or performance-based contracting.

• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret portfolio and financial data.

• Excellent report writing skills and ability to prepare dashboards, performance briefs, and risk reports.

• Ability to build strong relationships with private sector partners, government institutions, and donors.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel dashboards and Word reporting.

• Ability to conduct field visits and work with partner implementation teams.

• Fluency in English required. Knowledge of Chichewa or other local languages is an added advantage.

• Malawian nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
